Dr Grace Gordon

Dr Gordon is a Lecturer in Criminology at Auckland University of Technology. Her PhD research examined risk and safety frameworks to understand how they contribute to our reliance on punitive responses to harm. Dr Gordon's research endeavoured to imagine ways of achieving collective and sustainable safety without prisons, police and punishment. Dr Gordon is also an Advocacy Co-coordinator for People Against Prisons Aotearoa (PAPA), where she communicates with people in prison to support them with their needs. As an activist-scholar, Dr Gordon is committed to promoting decolonial and transformative change in our responses to harm. Her vision is to create a safer, fairer, and more just society, where everyone has opportunities to thrive and flourish.
