Sheridan is a Registered Nurse with extensive experience working in specialist secondary mental health and addiction services. Her clinical background includes acute inpatient adult mental health, community mental health services, early intervention in psychosis, and child and adolescent mental health. She has worked with individuals and whānau experiencing a range of complex mental health and substance related challenges.

 

Sheridan currently works with rangatahi in an early intervention in psychosis service and also holds the role of Duly Authorised Officer under the Mental Health Act. Her experience includes conducting mental health and addiction assessments and supporting individuals to engage with treatment and recovery focused services.

 

Her practice is grounded in a strengths based and recovery oriented approach. She places strong emphasis on whakawhanaungatanga and culturally safe practice, working closely with whānau and multidisciplinary teams to support holistic wellbeing.

 

Sheridan has completed postgraduate education in mental health and addictions, including study in youth addiction and co existing disorders. She has also undertaken training in therapeutic approaches such as motivational interviewing and acceptance and commitment therapy, and is a member of the Early Intervention in Psychosis Society and the Australian and New Zealand Mental Health Association.
